WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- The Whitworth University swimming teams dominated the 2007 Northwest Conference Relay meet on Saturday afternoon at Whitman College, the NWC's traditional kick off to the conference swimming season.

The Pirates won 11 of the 16 races in the meet. The Whitworth teams won all three mixed (men and women) relays, the Pirate women of five the their six races and the Whitworth men won three of their six relays.

The final scores were:

Mixed events - Whitworth 42, Puget Sound 30, Whitman 22, Pacific Lutheran 20, Lewis & Clark 8, Pacific 6, Linfield 4.

Women's events - Whitworth 70, Puget Sound 58, Lewis & Clark 48, Whitman 36, Pacific Lutheran 26, Pacific 12, Linfield 10.

Men's events - Whitworth 70, Linfield 52, Puget Sound 46, Pacific 24, Pacific Lutheran 22, Lewis & Clark 4.

Whitworth will return home to host Pacific (Friday) and Linfield (Saturday) in a pair of Northwest Conference dual meets.
