MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- Neither Ashley Lecoq or Rory Buck were able to advance from the preliminaries at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships on Friday at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center. Lecoq (Jr., Renton, Wash.) was 32nd in the preliminaries of the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:10.25, while Buck (Fr., Dubai, U.A.E.) took 26th in the preliminaries of the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 57.41. The top 16 swimmers advance from the morning preliminaries to the evening's scoring heats. The meet concludes on Saturday with three Pirates competing on the final day. Natalie Turner (Jr., South Lake Tahoe, Wash.) will look to extend her career NCAA scoring streak to nine events by swimming the 1,650-yard freestyle. Michael Woodward (So., Springfield, Ore.) will race in the 100-yard freestyle and Buck will compete in the 200-yard breaststroke. The 2009 NCAA Division III Championships mark the first time the men's and women's meets have been held simultaneously. Macalester College is hosting the meet.
