Adds Another Honor in 2010-11
SPOKANE, Wash. -- Whitworth University swimming sensation Rory Buck has added one more honor to an amazing 2010-11 calendar year. Buck was voted to the 2011 CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District VIII college division men's at-large team, which was released today. Buck (Jr., Dubai, U.A.E.) has a 3.76 grade point average through January term. He is a kinesiology and business management double major. He has now earned the Academic All-District honor two years in a row. Buck was selected as the NCAA Division III Men's Swimmer of the Year after winning both the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke events at the national championships in March. He broke a ten-year old NCAA DIII record in the 200 distance while winning the event. In April he traveled to South Africa to compete in that country's national championship and took home top-three finishes in both the 100-meter and 200-meter breaststroke events. The Academic All-District VIII at-large teams are selected from NCAA Division II, Division III and NAIA players throughout the western United States in sports without their own specific Academic All-District teams, including swimming, tennis, water polo, gymnastics, golf, wrestling and skiing. The players are nominated and selected by members of CoSIDA. To be eligible for nomination, a player must be a starter or important reserve with a 3.30 cumulative grade point average and of at least sophomore standing. Buck is now eligible to be selected to the Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-America college division team. Go to Athletics Home Page > Swimming > Sports Releases > |
