SPOKANE, Wash. - The Whitworth men's tennis team heads to Oregon this weekend looking for its first team victory of 2007. The Pirates (0-5 overall, 0-3 NWC) take on Lewis & Clark College (0-1, 0-1) on Friday at 3:00 pm and George Fox University (1-1, 1-1) on Saturday at 10:00 am.

Whitworth dropped a pair of home matches to NWC opponents over the weekend. On Friday at North Park RC, the Pirates lost 7-2 to Willamette University. Michael Carlson and Scott Donnell paired to win one of the points at #2 doubles with an 8-5 victory. Freshman Austin Abelar won 6-1, 2-6, 10-8 at #5 singles for the other point. Carlson and Donnell each lost three-set matches at #2 singles and #4 singles, respectively.

Linfield College rolled to a 9-0 win over Whitworth on Saturday at North Park. Carlson was the only Pirate to push his match past two sets before falling 5-7, 6-2, 7-5 at #2 singles.
