Whitworth Beats Lewis & Clark 7-2

SPOKANE, Wash., Wash. - Ed Anegon, Joe Wales, Scott Donnell and Henry Williams each won twice to lead Whitworth University to a 7-2 win over visiting Lewis & Clark College in a Northwest Conference tennis match on Friday night at the Scotford Tennis Center.

Wales and Donnell teamed to defeat Luke Wheeler and Adam Rager 8-2 at #2 doubles, then Donnell went on to defeat Andrew Moller 6-2, 6-2 at #4 singles. Wales picked up a win when Dirk Frouws retired at #3 singles (2-6, 6-0, 1-1, retired).

Williams and Josh Steele beat Peter Ray and Moller 8-4 at #3 doubles before Williams went on to win 6-2, 6-4 over Ray at #5 singles.

Whitworth made it a sweep of the doubles matches when Anegon and Brian Elliot beat George Allen and Frouws 8-2 in the top flight. Anegon followed with a 3-6, 6-0, 6-3 win over Wheeler at #2 singles.

Allen bounced back to beat Steele 4-6, 6-4, 10-8 at #1 singles, while L&C got another point when Rager defeated Colin Zalewski 1-6, 7-6, 10-6 at #6 singles.

Lewis & Clark travels to nationally-ranked Whitman for a match on Saturday. Whitworth will host Whitman in a doubleheader beginning at Noon on Sunday.
