The heartbreaking loss to the Bearcats was a reversal from the two regular season matches when the Pirates were able to pull out 5-4 victories.

Doubles was the difference as Willamette won two of the three matches. Scott Donnell and Joe Wales picked up Whitworth's only doubles point with an 8-4 win at #2.

Donnell and Wales both went on to win their singles matches as well. Donnell won 6-3, 6-4 at #4 while Wales pulled out a 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-3) win at #5 singles. Brian Elliot picked up the Pirates other point with a 6-1, 6-4 win at #2 singles.

The Pirates bounced back from the early disappointment to defeat the Loggers in the match that determined fifth and sixth places in the final standings. The match was moved indoors beause of cold and windy weather in Yakima. With the win Whitworth swept all three matches against UPS this season.

Whitworth took two of the three doubles matches and four of the six singles matches. In doubles, Donnell and Wales earned an easy 8-1 win at #2, while Josh Steele and Colin Zalewski won 8-2 at #3 doubles.

Donnell and Wales made it a perfect weekend for the pair by winning their singles matches. Donnell won 6-1, 6-2 at #4 and Wales pulled out a 6-7 (4), 7-5, 1-0 (11-9) win at #5. Elliot won 6-3, 6-1 at #2 singles and Ed Anegon won 7-5, 6-0 at #3 singles.
