Click here for complete results SPOKANE, Wash. - Competing in the cold and wind on Saturday, Whitworth's track and field teams were solid, but posted few notable performances at the CC of Spokane Sasquatch Mini Meet. Sarah Marken was Whitworth's only winner in the women's meet, taking the long jump with a best distance of 16'-1". She was also fourth in the shot put (32'-10.25") and fourth in the 100 dash (13.60). Kelli Christianson had a strong javelin throw with a distance of 122'-3", taking third place. Josh Siemieniec was Whitworth's only winner in the men's meet. He crossed the line in 51.40 to win the 400 dash. Derrick Dewindt improved his NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the hammer with a toss of 174'-7" to finish third. He was also third in the discus (126'-6"). Miles Hewitson threw the javelin 183'-9", which is close to the NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 188'. On Thursday and Friday of this week, the Pirates will be hosting the Whitworth Combined Event Invitational with ten athletes competing in the heptathlon and decathlon. On Saturday Whitworth will stay in town to compete at the Dusty Lane Invitational, hosted by CC of Spokane at Spokane Falls Community College. |
