BOISE, Idaho - Whitworth junior Brandon Howell provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships with a time of 1:54.26 in the 800 meter run at the Boise State University United Heritage meet on Saturday.

Howell's time is his best of the young season and highlighted the weekend for the small Pirate contingent. Ben Spaun (Jr., Wenatchee, Wash.) placed 4th in the 60 hurdles as he competed in several events to prepare himself as a decathlon competitor this spring.

The NCAA Division III Indoor Championships will be March 9-10 in Terre Haute, Indiana.

The Pirates will compete again next Sunday afternoon at the University of Washington Indoor Open.
