Whitworth Has Solid Showing at Dusty Lane Invite

SPOKANE, Wash. - Whitworth College got several solid performances from its track & field teams at the Dusty Lane Invitational hosted by the Community Colleges of Spokane team at Spokane Falls CC on Saturday.

Corinne Hodges was the only winner for the Whitworth women. She totaled 33'-6.5" to win the triple jump. She was also second in the long jump (15'-8.75").

Whitworth's women did win the 4x400 relay with a time of 4:19.15.

Jenna Hays was second in both the 400 hurdles (1:10.15) and 100 hurdles (16.44). Emily Hurd and Jo E Meyer finished second (19:15.76) and third (19:15.79), respectively, in the 5,000 run.

The Whitworth men also won the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:26.35. Jeff Grassley was Whitworth's individual champion, taking the 3,000 steeplechase in 10:00.93. Brandon Howell posted a strong time of 49.53 while finishing second in the 400 dash.

Whitworth will split its team next week, with half participating in the Charles Bowles Open at Willamette and the other half competing in the UPS Open.
