Click here for complete men's results / women's results CHENEY, Wash. - Whitworth freshman Cody Stelzer (The Dalles, Ore.) won the high jump in his first collegiate competition on Saturday as the Pirates opened the Indoor Track & Field season at the Jerry Martin Invitational hosted by Eastern Washington University. Stelzer high jumped 2.02 meters, which converts to 6'-7.5", in the meet. It is not only a personal best mark, but also provisionally qualifies him for the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships. Ben Spaun (Jr., Wenatchee, Wash.) also won for the Whitworth men, winning the finals of the 55 meter hurdles in a time of 7.87. Katie Pridgen (Fr., Nampa, Idaho) won the women's 55 meter hurdles in a time of 9.28, over teammate Kristin Dormaier (Jr., Hartline, Wash.) in 9.97. Whitworth also won the men's 4x400 relay with a time of 3:27.34. The Pirates will compete again next Friday night and Saturday afternoon at the University of Washington Indoor Invitational. |
