Howell, Stelzer Headed to NCAA Indoor Championships

SPOKANE, Wash. - Whitworth's Brandon Howell (Jr., Clarkston, Wash.) and Cody Stelzer (Fr, The Dalles, Ore.) are headed this week to the 2007 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships. The pair are the first Pirates to compete at the NCAA indoor championships since 2002.

Howell's time of 1:52.90 in the 800 meter run at the Vandal Indoor in Moscow, Idaho on Feb. 16th was converted to a 1:53.80 for NCAA ranking purposes. He enters the meet ranked 10th on the official NCAA list.

Stelzer's high jump of 2.05 meters, which converts to 6'-8.75", is currently tied for 8th in the NCAA rankings.

The 2007 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships will be held March 9-10 in Terre Haute, Indiana. The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology is the host school.
