OSHKOSH, Wis. - Kristen Dormaier and Ben Spaun have completed the first day of competition in the heptathlon and decathlon, respectively, at the NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Spaun (Jr., Wenatchee, Wash.), who went into the meet seeded 12th, is in 12th place after five events of the decathlon with 3,341 points. His best event was the shot put, in which he finished sixth out of the 16 competitors. Dormaier (Jr., Hartline, Wash.) is 18th after the first four events of the heptathlon with 2,291 points. Her time in the 200 was 27.45. Both the heptathlon and decathlon will be completed on Friday. Also on Friday Cody Stelzer (Fr., The Dalles, Ore.) will compete in the high jump, while Emmanuel Bofa (Fr., Puyallup, Wash.) Will run a preliminary heat of the 800 meter run. Unfortunately for the Pirates, Brandon Howell (Jr., Clarkston, Wash.) Will not compete in the 800 after he aggravated a quadriceps injury during a practice run today.
