
Third Straight Year for Stelzer
SPOKANE, Wash. -- Cody Stelzer has been selected to the ESPN The Magazine / CoSIDA Academic All-American Men's Track & Field/Cross Country Team, the third straight year he has achieved the honor. He is on the Second Team for the second year in a row. Stelzer graduated from Whitworth in May as biology major with a 3.50 grade point average through January term. The senior from The Dalles, Oregon was a Third Team Academic All-American in 2008 and a Second Team honoree each of the last two years. Stelzer recently finished fourth in the high jump at the 2010 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships by clearing a height of 6'-10.25". He had previously won the Northwest Conference title in the same event for the fourth consecutive season and was an All-American at the 2010 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships. Over the course of his four years at Whitworth, Stelzer competed in the high jump eight times at the NCAA Division III Championships (Indoor and Outdoor). He was an All-American eight times and was the 2008 national champion at the outdoor meet and 2009 national champion indoors. The Academic All-American Track & Field/Cross Country teams included 30 individuals each for men and women, ten First Team members, ten Second Team and ten Third Team.
