NAMPA, Idaho - Whitworth University's track and field teams continue to show well in meets against NCAA Division I competition during the 2010 indoor season. The Pirates posted several strong performances on Saturday at the Bronco Invitational hosted by Boise State University in Nampa, Idaho. Not only were Whitworth's athletes taking on the hosts, the Bucs were going up against athletes from Brigham Young, Utah, Utah State and Weber State. Jeff Kintner had the highest individual finish for Whitworth, taking third place (of 23 throwers) in the shot put with a distance of 52'-3.25". Aaron Jenkins had a full day. He was 8th of 26 runners in the 3,000 meters with a time of 9:00.04, then took 9th out of 20 in the mile with a time of 4:29.26. On the women's side, Joy Shufeldt finished fifth (of 30) in the 3,000 with a time of 10:27.45. Alyssa Thompson was 12th in the long jump with a mark of 16'-6.5". Next Friday and Saturday Whitworth will again compete across the border, but not as far away. The Pirates will be at the University of Idaho in Moscow. |
