Click here for the NCAA Championship website SPOKANE, Wash. - Hoping to duplicate or improve on the accomplishments of last season, three Whitworth men are headed to this week's NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships as individual national title contenders. The meet will run on Friday and Saturday at DePauw University (Greencastle, Ind.). Complete meet information, schedule and results can be found on the official website above. The Pirate men finished third overall at the 2009 championships.
Cody Stelzer (Sr., The Dalles, Ore.) goes into the meet as the defending NCAA Division III Indoor T&F champion in the high jump. He has cleared 6'-8.75" so far this season. He won last season's meet with a jump of 6'-11". Emmanuel Bofa (Sr., Puyallup, Wash.) was the national indoor runner-up in the 800 meter run last year. The two-time NCAA Division III outdoor champion is seeded sixth in this meet with an entry time of 1:53.03. Jeff Kintner (Sr., Wenatchee, Wash.) finished in third place in the shot put last year and hopes to move up at this year's meet. He is seeded fourth with an entry mark of 54'-10.25". Both the shot put (1:00 p.m. ET) and high jump (3:30 p.m.) are scheduled on Saturday. The preliminaries of the men's 800 are scheduled for 5:55 p.m. on Friday with the finals expected to start at 3:35 p.m. on Saturday. |
