
Bofa Top Collegiate 800 Finisher at Oregon Twilight
MOSCOW, Idaho / EUGENE, Ore. -- Whitworth freshman Carter Comito punched his ticket to the 2010 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships with a winning throw in the discus at the University of Idaho Vandal Jamboree. One state away, Pirate senior Emmanuel Bofa was the top collegiate finisher in the 800 meter run at Hayward Field in the University of Oregon Twilight meet. At Idaho, Comito unleashed a throw of 171'-7" in his final attempt to win the discus throw. He surpassed the automatic mark of 168'-11". Also in Moscow, Shannon Winant won the triple jump with a length of 44'-11.5" and finished third in the long jump (22'-3.5"). Both are season-bests for Winant. Cody Stelzer won the high jump by clearing 2.05 meters (6'-8.75") on his second attempt. He then took three attempts at 2.11, but was unable to clear the bar. Joseph Ingeman won the javelin throw with a distance of 173'-3". At the Oregon Twilight, Bofa finished fifth in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:49.89. He was the top collegiate finisher behind four club runners. It is the second-fastest time of the season for Bofa, who has Division III's fastest time this season (1:48.69). Dusty Caseria was 11th with a time of 1:53.84. Also in Eugene, Alex Hymel was just off of his season best while finishing fifth in the javelin throw with a distance of 205'-2".
