MOSCOW, Idaho - Three Whitworth men posted NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field national qualifying marks on Friday evening at the University of Idaho Vandal Collegiate meet at the Kibbie Dome.

Jeff Kintner not only improved his NCAA qualifying mark in the shot put on Friday, he won the event with a mark of 54'-10.25 inches, just three-quarters of an inch under the automatic NCAA cut.

Emmanual Bofa also came close to making an automatic NCAA cut while lowering his provisional time in the 800 by finishing third in 1:52.13.

Cody Stelzer competed in the pentathlon for the first time in his life on Friday and surpassed the provisional NCAA mark (3,550) with a score of 3,470. He finished third in the event.

Tonya Turner led the way for the Whitworth women. She took second place in the mile with a time of 5:17.40, then came back to finish third in the 3,000 in 10:40.29.

The heart of the indoor track and field season is now over for the Pirates. Those close to NCAA qualifying marks will compete next week at the University of Washington while the rest of the team turns its focus to outdoor competition.
