Spokane, Wash. -- Whitworth College junior Bekah Honor has been selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-District VIII College Division Volleyball Team, according to district coordinator Blake Timm of Pacific University (Ore.), who released the team today. Click here for a complete list of the all-district team as a PDF. Hornor, a setter from Spokane (Mead HS), has a 3.850 grade point average (GPA) in Biology. She was also named to the All-Northwest Conference second team this week. Hornor averaged 11.24 assists per game this season. She was also the most dangerous setter at the net in the NWC, leading all setters in kills per game (1.7) and blocks per game (0.5). Hornor led the Pirates to a 19-5 overall record in 2004 and an NWC mark of 12-4. Founded by CoSIDA in 1952, the Academic All-America program recognizes collegiate student-athletes for their outstanding achievements in the classroom and on the playing field. Over the past 50 years, the Academic All-America program has grown into one of the most recognized and prestigious collegiate scholar-athlete awards nationwide, honoring student-athletes from all NCAA championship sports. To be eligible, an athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.20 on a scale of 4.00 and be nominated by her school's sports information director.
