Three Pirates Earn All-Region Honors

Spokane, Wash. -- After leading Whitworth College to a remarkable turnaround in 2004, Pirate juniors Bekah Hornor and Julie Marsh have been named to the AVCA All-West Region Volleyball Team, which was announced today. In addition Natalie Danielson was an honorable mention choice.

Hornor, a setter from Spokane (Mead HS), averaged 11.24 assists per game this season. She was also the most dangerous setter at the net in the NWC, leading all setters in kills per game (1.7) and blocks per game (0.5). She was also a Second Team All-NWC selection.

Marsh, an outside hitter from Cheney (Cheney HS) who transferred back to Whitworth from Western Washington University this fall, led Whitworth in kills per game (3.58), digs per game (4.31) and aces (35) this season. She hit .233 and was a First Team All-NWC selection.

Danielson, a middle blocker from Kennewick who transferred from the Community Colleges of Spokane this year, led Whitworth in hitting percentage (.284) and solo blocks (17). She was second in total blocks (71) and kills per game (3.33). Danielson was also a Second Team All-NWC selection.

The trio led the Pirates to a 19-5 overall record in 2004 and an NWC mark of 12-4. Whitworth had finished 10-19 and 4-12 in 2003.
