SPOKANE, Wash. -- Whitworth College's Natalie Danielson has reached the pinnacle of individual honors in NCAA Division III volleyball, earning First Team All-American honors on a team released tonight by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA). Rebekah Hornor has also been named as an Honorable Mention member of the team.
The duo have led the Pirates to a 22-3 overall record this season and into the finals of the NCAA West Regional of the NCAA Division III volleyball tournament. Danielson (Sr., MB, Kennewick, Wash.) leads the conference in hitting percentage (.335) and second in kills per game (4.19) this season. She is fourth in blocks (1.05). Danielson was named Northwest Conference Player of the Year on Monday by the NWC coaches. Hornor has dished an average of 11.28 assists per game, ranking second in the NWC. However, she leads all conference setters in kills per game (1.66), hitting percentage (.251) and blocks per game (0.58). Whitworth's season continues on Saturday night when the Pirates host University of La Verne in the championship final of the NCAA West Regional at 7:00 pm. |
