FOREST GROVE, Ore. - (From Pacific SID Office) In what looked like it could be one of the biggest upsets of the Northwest Conference season, the Pacific Boxers couldn't keep pace with the Northwest Conference leading Whitworth Pirates as they fell 23-30, 30-22, 30-13, 30-22 in women's volleyball on Saturday night.

Megan Van Domelen led the Boxers with 12 kills and a game-high .318 attack percentage. Teammate Jill Peacock tallied 11 kills and Anela Iseke recorded 20 assists. Whitworth's Natalie Danielson connected with a game-high 14 kills while teammate Julie Marsh knocked down 12 kills.

Pacific played this game without their main offensive producer Melissa Dunn as she came down on her ankle wrong and injured it during the team's warm-ups.

In the first game, the Boxers jumped out to a 14-9 advantage behind two service aces from Van Domelen, but Whitworth climbed back in the match to tie the match at 18 behind three straight Brittney Bower kills. The Boxers then widened the gap to 28-21 on a Sarah Monda kill and put the match away by taking advantage of two Whitworth attack errors to win game one 30-23.

The second game of the match saw Pacific and Whitworth work to a 4-4 tie on a Pacific kill by Caitlin Gollehon, but a Marsh kill put the Pirates up 5-4 and the Pirates never relinquished the lead as they took advantage of six Pacific attack errors to put game two away 30-23.

Game three was dominated at the net by Whitworth, as the Pirates hit .389 to the Boxers' .032. As a team, Whitworth tallied 16 kills in the game while Pacific only connected with seven kills. Pacific wouldn't see a lead in this game, as a Hannah Gordon kill tied the game at two, but after Whitworth's Angie Florence recorded a kill the Pirates never looked back as Danielson pounded out six of her 14 kills to give the Pirates a 30-13 win.

The fourth and final game of the match went back and forth for the first half, as Pacific tied the game on a Whitworth attack error at 17. After a Marsh kill put the Pirates up 18-17, they used five Pacific attack errors and a pair of Danielson kills to put the game and the match away with a game four score of 30-22 and a 3-1 match victory.

The Boxers (8-13, 1-10 NWC) are back in action on Oct. 28 with their last home match of the season, as they play host to Willamette at 7 p.m. The Pirates (16-w, 11-1 NWC) will take on Puget Sound at home on Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. in their next match.
