Complete box score and play by play SPOKANE, Wash . -- Whitworth College bounced back from a second game loss to end any hopes of an upset and defeat visiting Willamette University 30-19, 28-30, 30-20, 30-16 in a Northwest Conference volleyball contest on Friday night in the Whitworth Fieldhouse.
The 23rd-ranked Pirates are 12-2 overall and 8-0 in the NWC. Willamette fell to 1-10, 1-6. Natalie Danielson led the Pirates with 17 kills and four blocks. Bekah Hornor dished 37 assists and Brittney Bower led the Bucs with 13 digs. Jessica McGraw led Willamette with 14 kills, while Kelly Lindstrom added 10 kills. Jessica Drum had 26 assists and Veronica Schneider dug 18 balls. After the Pirates rolled to a first game victory (30-19), the Bearcats came back from a 21-18 deficit in the second game to win 30-28. But Whitworth regrouped, holding Willamette to negative hitting percentages in the next two games, to win 30-20 and 30-16. Willamette will head to Walla Walla to play at Whitman College on Saturday night. The Pirates return to action on Tuesday when they play at NAIA Lewis-Clark State. |
