NEWBERG, Ore. -- Whitworth University continued to struggle at the net, both offensively and defensively, as the Pirates were beaten 25-13, 25-16, 25-15 on Saturday night at George Fox University in a Northwest Conference volleyball match at the Wheeler Sports Center.

Whitworth (4-11 overall, 0-4 NWC) hit only .075 in the match, while the Bruins (9-3, 2-2) slammed their way to a .350 team hitting percentage.

Brynn DeLong (Jr., OH, Spokane, Wash.) led Whitworth with nine kills and nine digs, while Randi Stephens (Jr., MB, Bozeman, Mont.) added four kills and three block assists. Jordon Hoffnagle (So., S, Spokane, Wash.) and Bree Riddle (So., S, Spokane, Wash.) had 12 and 11 assists, respectively.

Stephanie Kerr came off of the bench to lead George Fox with a match-high 11 kills. Kaitlyn Maddams added eight kills in 13 attempts without a single error for a .615 hitting percentage.

Things will not get easier for the Pirates next weekend, despite the fact that they return home for a pair of matches in the Whitworth Fieldhouse. Those matches will come against Pacific Lutheran University (Friday) and University of Puget Sound (Saturday) and both teams are currently nationally-ranked.
