“For Such a Time as This: Ancient Christian Wisdom for Postmodern Times”
Changes to the landscape of ministry are picking up speed, leaving ministers and church leaders wondering if there is anything that is secure and sure in our theology, our practice, our churches. This summer’s Whitworth Institute of Ministry will address this transitional and uncertain moment in the life of the church from the following perspectives:
•James K.A. Smith, professor of philosophy, Calvin College
•Gerald Sittser, professor of theology, Whitworth University
•Karen Petersen-Finch, assistant professor of theology, Whitworth University
•James Edwards, Bruner-Welch Professor of Theology, Whitworth University
•Carolyn Gordon, associate professor of communication, School of Theology, Fuller Theological Seminary
These plenary speakers will help us renew the rhythms, practices and disciplines of the church in helping Christians remain faithful to Christ and each other through even the most uncertain periods in our history. We invite you to join us as we renew and refresh our minds, hearts, bodies and imaginations through the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Our gifted leaders and communicators will set the context for stimulating reflection, spiritual renewal, and personal refreshment. We are grateful for your faithful commitment to leadership in Christ’s church, and we look forward to supporting you in that work through your participation in this summer’s Whitworth Institute of Ministry. The campus of Whitworth University and the surrounding region are especially beautiful in the summer, and we look forward to hosting you on our campus July 8-12. May Christ’s peace abide with each of you.
