| Northwest Protestant Studies: Collections |
Under the leadership of the Center's archivist, Janet Hauck,
the Center is continuing to collect records related to the Protestant
experience in the Pacific Northwest. The Center now holds the partial
or complete records
of more than 20 Protestant churches and organizations in the Pacific
Northwest. The more recent acquisitions have come from:
- Fourth Memorial Church of Spokane
- Whitworth Community Presbyterian Church of Spokane
- Salem Lutheran Church of Spokane
- First Presbyterian Church of Waitsburg, Washington
In addition, student research fellows
are working with local churches in the greater Spokane area to collect
historical records, oral histories and archival material.
We encourage churches, other religious bodies
and social service organizations with religious roots to consider donating
records to the Whitworth archive, which is temperature and humidity controlled.
We are particularly interested in the following items:
- Sermons
- Annual reports
- Church bulletins
- Sunday School materials
- Photographs
- Mission statements
- Oral histories
- Monthly newsletters
- Music/worship materials
- Video histories
- Census records
- Materials pertaining to: youth programs, women's
activities, social/political activities, missionary activities
Churches and individuals wishing to donate papers
or materials to the special collection should contact Dr.
Dale Soden, director of the Weyerhaeuser Center or Ms.
Janet Hauck.
