Lecture series:
- Noted Christian physicist, Dr.
John Polkinghorne lectured on the Whitworth campus in April 2001.
- During the spring of 2001, the Center brought Dr.
Joel Carpenter, provost at Calvin College, to speak
on "The Christian College: A
Bright Future or Inevitable Retreat" and
Dr. Ted
Peters, professor of systematic theology at the
Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary and the Graduate Theological Union
in Berkeley. Dr. Peters spoke on the topic of, "Are
We Playing God with Our Genes? The Cloning and Stem Cell Controversies
in Theological Perspective."
- David Rawson, former U.S. ambassador
to Mali and Rwanda, spoke on the topic "Justice,
Forgiveness, Peace: The Moral Challenge of Genocide" in November.
This lecture was sponsored by the Center for Christian Faith and Learning
and Partners International, a Spokane-based international Christian
organization that supports indigenous ministries in the least Christian
regions of the world.
