Join the Green Pirate in saving the world! The Sustainability Challenge (April 13-May 1, 2009) is a fun competition to educate and motivate students, faculty and staff to be the change they want to see in the world. Each team has two people who "compete" at sustainability by doing simple things like turning off lights and using a reusable mug instead of a paper cup.
And if saving the world isn't enough incentive, there's always the great prizes! But if you're not up for participating in the Challenge, what about simply signing the "Whitworth Pledge of Sustainable Conduct"? The challenge is open to all Whitworth students, employees, faculty, staff, and anyone associated in any capacity with Whitworth (including spouses of the aforementioned and vendors who do business with Whitworth). Sustainability is more than just a buzzword. "For Whitworth, sustainability is a way of life, and the Sustainability Challenge hopes to inspire the entire Whitworth community to look at their actions and make some positive changes," says Assistant Director of Housing (and member of the Sustainability Committee) Alan Jacob. "In the words of Mahatma Gandhi, 'We must be the change we wish to see in the world.'" |
