The Grand Opening of the Whitworth College Gymnasium and Literary Hall occurred on September 28, 1942. All the hard work of faculty, students, and Spokane business owners finally paid off and resulted in the creation of a building which, according to the 1943 Natsihi, many people believed was "the finest gymnasium in Spokane." Nearly 70 years later the facility is still frequently used and cherished by those who have had the honor to call Whitworth home.
