The Future of the Pirate Swim Team No one can be sure what the future will bring Whitworth College or its swim team. However, based on the past, things are looking up for both the men and the women. With the addition of Steve Schadt as the head coach during the 2003-2004 season, taking the place of long time head coach Tom Dodd, the future looks promising. During an interview with Steve the question was asked why he chose to come back to the program, having swum for Tom during the mid 1990’s. His response was the closeness of the team and the willingness of the athletes to work hard. Having been a member of the team he can relate to what it truly means to be a member of the Whitworth Swim Team. “Pain is weakness leaving the body. The question isn’t how much more you can take but how much more you can give. Just when you’re ready to quite, you’re mind says, push harder. You listen. Sensing an inner strength that wasn’t there before and suddenly you discover—you no longer feel pain. Now you are one of us—WHITWORTH SWIMMING"
