| From May 4- November 3, 1974, Spokane hosted the World’s Fair. Over the course of six months, 5.6 million people from around the world visited the international exhibitions all centered around the theme, “Celebrating Tomorrow’s Fresh, New Environment.” In a February 5, 1973 memo from President Edward B. Lindaman to the Whitworth Campus Community, the president writes, “As you can readily understand, Whitworth College will make an impression on these thousands of visitors. That impression certainly will influence future patterns of enrollment, financial support of the college, and the attitude toward Whitworth in communities throughout the Pacific Northwest.” |
