A Small but Active Group
With the development of groups like the Honor “W” Club, the Pirettes, and a growth of interest in student government in the 1940s, the “W” Club slowly faded into the background of campus activity. While the club was initially comprised of the most active students on campus, during the 1940s and 1950s the “W” Club was comprised solely of lettered athletes, and the group’s prestige and popularity dwindled and eventually dissolved altogether in the 1980s. Although the group is no longer active, the legacy of the club lives on in the noble character and dedication to school spirit and sportsmanship exhibited by athletes today.
