Policies for Guest Borrowers

Anyone is welcome to use the Whitworth Library's collections in the building. However, borrowing privileges for individuals not currently affiliated with the university are limited, and are governed by the policies outlined below. These policies are formulated in light of general principles set forth in our Policies Regarding Extension of Library Privileges to Non-Whitworth Users, which also includes additional policies relating to library visitors and guest patrons. We reserve the right to revise or revoke the policies below, and all policies for guest users, whenever deemed necessary.

General Information for Guest Borrowers
  • Community members (non-Whitworth students, faculty, staff) may apply for a Library Guest card for an initial fee of $35, renewable annually for $25. Picture ID and address verification are required.
  • For Whitworth alumni and local area pastors the $25 annual fee is waived, but there is a $10 fee for initial issuance of the guest card. Annual renewals are free.
  • Replacement of any lost or damaged card incurs a $10 replacement fee.
  • For students and faculty of Eastern Washington University, ICN, and Moody Bible Institute Spokane, the annual fee is also waived, contingent on continuing reciprocal or other special agreements with those institutions. A current student or faculty ID is required, along with address verification plus a second ID with picture if not included on the institutional ID. The home institution ID card serves as the guest borrower card.
  • For patrons of Washington-Idaho Network (WIN) member libraries participating in the WINborrow system, including Gonzaga University and the Spokane Community Colleges, the institutional ID or library card serves as the guest borrower card. Special circulation policies apply to WINborrow patrons (see below).
  • Reserve materials and interlibrary loan services are not available to library guests.
