Sharon Mowry Joins Whitworth College as Director of Graduate Studies in Education
Sharon Mowry recently joined Whitworth College as director of the Department of Graduate Studies in Education (GSE). Mowry's responsibilities include overseeing the GSE office, program faculty and staff; developing and maintaining relationships with public school administrators; and maintaining active involvement in state, regional and national school administration associations.
Mowry will also serve as an associate professor of education and will teach courses in the graduate school administration program and in the undergraduate and graduate teacher education program.
Before coming to Whitworth, Mowry was the assistant superintendent for instruction for Spokane's West Valley School District #363. She has also worked as a principal at schools in Washington and California.
Mowry holds a Ph.D. in educational leadership from Gonzaga University, a master's in educational administration from Fresno Pacific College, and a B.S. in elementary education from Portland State University.
"It's an honor to join the Whitworth School of Education. I look forward to working with the excellent administration, faculty and staff," Mowry says. "After a number of years in public education, it is a real privilege to be part of a team training professionals for service in these challenging times."
