Whitworth International Club to Host Banquet
United States Secretary of Education Richard Riley and United States Secretary of State Madeleine Albright have called for the celebration of International Education Week Nov. 13-17. International Education Week is part of a cooperative response by the Departments of Education and State to President Clinton's policy directive on international education.
In observance of International Education Week, the Whitworth College International Club is hosting a banquet Friday, Nov. 17, to promote education and diversity in the Spokane community. Students will serve an ethnic dinner representing six countries, which will be followed by an international entertainment program.
The dinner will take place at 5:30 p.m. in Hixson Union Building at Whitworth College, 300 W. Hawthorne Rd. The entertainment program will take place at 7 p.m. in Whitworth's Cowles Memorial Auditorium.
Tickets for the dinner and entertainment program are $10 for adults and $5 for children six to 13 years old. Since a limited number of seats are available for the dinner, please reserve tickets in advance by calling Julie Gilstrap at (509) 777-3688 or Pam Oswalt at (509) 777-4282. Tickets for the entertainment program only are $2 and will be available to purchase Friday, Nov. 17 at 6:30 p.m. at Cowles Memorial Auditorium.
