March 23, 2001 Whitworth Choir Launches Spring Concert Tour The award-winning Whitworth College Choir will perform in 11 cities throughout the Pacific Northwest as part of its 2001 spring concert tour. The 68-member ensemble will perform works from such composers as Jacob Handl, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Johann von Herbeck and William Dawson, and the concert will include a repertoire of music spanning the Baroque period to the 20th century. Led by Director of Choral Activities Bryan Priddy, the Whitworth Choir is considered one of the premiere collegiate choirs in the Northwest, and has performed with the Spokane Symphony and Chorale. Each year the choir performs six Christmas festival concerts in the Seattle area and Spokane. The choir is frequently selected to perform at conventions for the American Choral Directors Association, the Washington Music Educators Association, and the Music Educators National Conference. The Whitworth Choir recently released its fourth CD, "My Song in the Night." Whitworth is a private, liberal arts college located in Spokane, Wash. Following is information for each of the spring 2001 choir tour concert locations. Each concert is free and open to the public; a free-will offering will be taken.
