Whitworth Hawaiian Club Hosts 32nd Annual Luau
What: The Whitworth Hawaiian Club, Na Pu'uwai o Hawaii (The Heart of Hawaii), will bring Polynesian food and culture to Spokane at its 32nd annual luau. The luau, themed "Kuhi ka lima, Hele ka maka," (Where the hands move, there let the eyes follow), will feature a menu of authentic Hawaiian cuisine and an evening of Polynesian dancing. The Club will prepare and serve authentic Hawaiian food shipped directly from the Hawaiian Islands.
The menu will include kalua pig (roasted pork), lomi lomi salmon, squid luau, poi, pineapple cake and haupia, a coconut dessert. Menu items will be prepared by members of the Hawaiian Club under the supervision of Victor Punua, a chef from Kauai who assists with the luau each year.
Entertainment will follow the meal. Hawaiian Club members will perform dances originating from Aotearoa, New Zealand, Samoa, Tahiti and Hawaii.
When: Saturday, April 6, at 5 p.m.
Where: Fieldhouse at Whitworth College, 300 W. Hawthorne Rd, Spokane
