Trouvères to Perform in Spring Concert
Whitworth College's 26-voice women's ensemble, Trouvères, will perform in concert on Sunday, April 21, at 7 p.m. at St. Augustine Church, located on the corner of 19th Avenue and Bernard Street in Spokane. Admission is free and doors will open 30 minutes prior to the performance. For more information about the concert, please call (509) 777-3280.
Trouvères, founded in 1997, performs challenging sacred and secular literature from all musical periods, according to its director, S. Bryan Priddy, who also directs the Whitworth Choir. During the concert, Trouvères will perform a variety of pieces in English, Latin, Estonian and Basque, as well as two major works, Benjamin Britten's Missa Brevis in D and Gustav Holst's Choral Hymns from the Rig-Veda. Guest performers will include Whitworth music professor emeritus and composer Michael Young, and Leslie Stratton-Norris, a professional harpist and Whitworth adjunct music professor.
Last summer, Trouvères represented Whitworth at the International Festival of Women's Singing in Seattle, Wash. The group's spring performance at St. Augustine Church will be Trouvères' first guest appearance as part of the church's annual concert series.
