Northwest Papier Mâché Artists' Guild to Exhibit Sculpture at Whitworth's Koehler Gallery

Nine members of the Northwest Papier Mâché Artists' Guild will display their sculpture in an exhibit, "Harvesting Hope and Humor," Oct. 3-Nov. 27 at the Koehler Gallery at Whitworth College. An opening reception will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 2, from 5-7 p.m. in the Koehler Gallery. Guild members will discuss their work at 6 p.m. during the opening reception. "Harvesting Hope and Humor" will feature papier mâché sculpture including "Peg's Cake," a birthday-cake hat created by Spokane artist Peggy Donovan as an exploration of turning 55 years old; Coeur d'Alene artist Rhea Giffin's "T & C Cocktail," a unique letter to the editor in response to the recent trial of a man who was charged with poisoning four cats in Post Falls; and Rathdrum artist Judy Minter's three-dimensional portrait, "Brody, Ace Pilot." Minter was awarded an honorarium at this year's Art on the Green juried show for her piece "Aurora's Summertime Breeze."
