Whitworth Choir and Chamber Singers Launch Spring Concert Tour
The acclaimed Whitworth College Choir and the Whitworth Chamber Singers will perform in seven West-Coast cities during their spring 2003 concert tour. The ensembles will perform works by such composers as Maurice Duruflè, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Gerald Finzi and Leonard Bernstein, as well as spirituals arranged by Keith Hampton and Moses Hogan.
Led by Interim Director of Choral Activities Deborah Hansen, the Whitworth Choir is considered one of the premiere collegiate choirs in the Northwest, and has performed with the Spokane Symphony and Chorale. The choir, which is frequently selected to perform at conventions for the American Choral Directors Association, the Washington Music Educators Association, and the Music Educators National Conference, recently released its fifth CD, "Gloria."
Located in Spokane, Wash., Whitworth is a private liberal arts college affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA). The college enrolls 2,200 students in more than 50 undergraduate and graduate programs.
