Whitworth Jazz Choir to Perform in April 29 Concert

The Whitworth Jazz Choir will perform a wide range of jazz styles during its April 29 concert at 7:30 p.m. in the Music Recital Hall on campus. Admission is free. Whitworth is located at 300 W. Hawthorne Road in north Spokane. For more information, please call (509) 777-3280.

In addition to singing jazz standards, the choir will perform some lighter pieces, says Jazz Choir Conductor Ann Brueggemeier, who is also an adjunct professor of music at Whitworth. Selections include Moondance by Van Morrison and Blue Bossa, arranged by Whitworth Music Department Chair Dan Keberle.

The Whitworth Jazz Choir consists of six singers and three rhythm-section musicians; each jazz-choir member will perform a solo during the concert. The purpose of the group is to give Whitworth students a foundation in jazz style and repertoire, Brueggemeier says.
