Whitworth to Host Annual Taste of Japan Dinner
as Part of Spokane's Japan-Week Celebration

In conjunction with Spokane's annual Japan Week celebration, the community is invited to share the delicacies of Japanese cuisine at the Taste of Japan dinner hosted by Whitworth College. The dinner will take place on Monday, April 21, at 5:30 p.m. in the Hixson Union Building catering rooms at Whitworth. Tickets are $7; reservations are required since seating is limited and the event sells out each year. To R.S.V.P. and purchase tickets, please call (509) 777-4282.

The Taste of Japan menu will include sushi (no raw fish), teriyaki chicken, nikujaga (a pork and potato stew), rice balls, cabbage salad, rolls and sweet green-tea-powder ice cream. Whitworth's Japanese students and members of the college's International Club will greet guests and serve the meal.

"This event is an opportunity for people to interact with Whitworth's Japanese students and other international students as we celebrate diversity and Japanese culture," says Lulu Gonzalez-Page, Whitworth's international student affairs coordinator.

Located in Spokane, Wash., Whitworth is a private liberal arts college affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA). The college enrolls 2,200 students in more than 50 undergraduate and graduate programs.
