Whitworth Women's Ensemble Trouvères to Perform in Spring Concert
Whitworth College's 26-voice women's ensemble, Trouvères, will perform in concert on Sunday, April 13, at 7 p.m. at St. Augustine Church, located on the corner of 19th Avenue and Bernard Street in Spokane. Admission is free; doors will open 30 minutes prior to the performance. For more information, please call (509) 777-3280.
Trouvères, founded in 1997, performs challenging sacred and secular literature from all musical periods. Under the direction of Whitworth Adjunct Professor of Music Darnelle Preston, the ensemble will sing a variety of pieces including folk songs from Great Britain, Ireland, Finland and Czechoslovakia. The group will also sing McIntyre's Come, O Holy Spirit, Jean-Baptiste Lully's Regina Coeli, and a traditional African-American gospel piece, The Storm is Passing Over.
Trouvères' spring concert at St. Augustine Church will be the ensemble's second guest appearance as part of the church's annual concert series.
