Annual Women Composers Concert to Feature Area Organists

The Whitworth College Department of Music presents its annual Women Composers Concert, "The Untapped Source IX, Music for Organ," featuring area organists Barbara Top Rockwood, Michael Young, James Tevenan, and Bonnie Robinson.The concert will take place Sunday, Feb. 16, at 7:30 p.m. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 316 E. 24th Ave., in Spokane. The concert is free and open to the public. For more information, please call (509) 777-4583.

In recognition of African-American Heritage Month, the concert will feature works by African-American composers Florence Price and Sharon J. Willis, including Price's Toccato and Willis' We Shall Overcome. The concert will also include works by American composer Emma Lou Diemer; Romantic period pieces by English composer Elizabeth Stirling; and 18th century pieces by Prussian composer Anna Amalie.
