Whitworth Chamber Singers to Present Spring Concert May 2
The Whitworth Chamber Singers will perform its spring concert on Sunday, May 2, at 7:30 p.m. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, located at 24th Ave. and Grand Blvd. The performance is free and open to the public. For more information, please call (509) 777-3280.
The 25 students that comprise the choir will perform compositions primarily from the 20th century, including works by Salvador Brotons, Eric Whitacre, Gwyneth Walker, Alexandre Pascanu, Moses Hogan and William Hawley.
The Whitworth Chamber Singers are directed by Associate Professor of Music Debbie Hansen and will be accompanied by Bonnie Robinson, on piano. Guest instrumentalists will be Elizabeth Webster, '05, on violin and Chris Parkin, '05, on saxophone. The concert will also feature solos and duets by the chamber singers' graduating seniors. The senior solos are a tradition for the year-end concert.
Members of the chamber singers are selected by audition from the members of the Whitworth Choir. The ensemble performs sacred and secular choral literature from a wide rage of eras and styles. Earlier this year the Whitworth Chamber Singers were honored with an invitation to perform for the Northwestern Convention of the American Choral Directors Association in Boise, Idaho.
