Japan Week Luncheon to Feature Presentation by Consul General of Japan
The Whitworth College School of Global Commerce and Management is sponsoring a business luncheon featuring Tadahiro Abe, Consul General of Japan from the Consulate General of Japan, Seattle, Wash. During the luncheon, Abe will address "Japan-U.S. Relations in Asia Pacific." The luncheon will take place Wednesday, April 21, from noon to 1:30 p.m. at Mukogawa Fort Wright Commons, 4000 W. Randolph Road. The luncheon fee is $15. RSVP by April 19 to (509) 777-3242.
Abe's luncheon presentation is part of Spokane's Japan Week celebration, April 17-25; this is the 13th year Whitworth has sponsored the business/community luncheon.
Abe has held many embassy/minister positions throughout the world, including Minister of the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam, 2001-02, and in Austria, 1998-01. He has also served as the 1997-98 director of CIS Assistance Division, European Affairs Bureau, as well as the 1996-97 director of Evaluation Division, Economic Cooperation Bureau. Both positions were located at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, in Tokyo.
Abe earned a master's degree in economics from the London School of Economics, University of London, in 1974. He has served as a visiting scholar at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
