Whitworth Black Student Union to Host Annual Gospel Explosion Concert
Area church choirs will join voices in tribute to Black History Month and to African-American gospel music in the 2004 Gospel Explosion Concert at Whitworth College. The concert will take place Friday, Feb. 6, at 7 p.m., in Cowles Auditorium at Whitworth. Admission is free; a free-will offering will be taken to support Whitworth's Black Student Union, which is organizing the concert. Please call 777-4568 for more information.
The annual Gospel Explosion concert unites students and members of the Spokane community for a spirited worship experience and celebration. The concert will feature area choirs from churches including Bethel A.M.E., Calvary Baptist, the Church of Berachah, Solid Rock Christian Center, and Unspeakable Joy Christian Fellowship. Jubilation, a sacred dance group composed of Whitworth students, will also perform.
Located in Spokane, Wash., Whitworth is a private, liberal arts college affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA). The college enrolls 2,200 students in more than 50 undergraduate and graduate programs.
