Whitworth Art Students to Display Work in Exhibit, "Wowzers"
Whitworth art students titled their upcoming exhibit "Wowzers" to reflect their sense of fun and laid-back approach to their artwork.
The exhibit will be on display Nov. 30- Dec. 15 in the Koehler Gallery, located in the Fine Arts Building at Whitworth College. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. -6 p.m., Monday-Friday. Admission is free. An opening reception will be held Tuesday, Nov. 30, from 5-7 p.m. in the Koehler Gallery. For more information, please call (509) 777-3258.
Twelve student-artists will showcase their work in the exhibit: Hyeon-Woo Kim, Beth A. Krause, Jon Merrell, Caitlin A. Michaelis, Sarah G. Peterson, Kadyn Schmautz, Mesha R. Wood, Carolyn J. Winter, Marco J. Tulluck, Catherine K. Doughty, Nicole Best, and one student who prefers to be known as "Student X" to "add an element of humor and intrigue" to the exhibit.
"One of the exhibit's unique features for the students is actually experiencing the stress and accomplishment of putting together an exhibit," says senior Nicole Best. "It also allows us as students to begin to showcase our artwork, to get it before a public audience."
The exhibit will feature works in various mediums including oils, acrylic, digital imagery, pastel drawings, charcoal, ceramics, printmaking, black and white photography, Conte drawings and mixed media.
