November 1, 2004 Whitworth Wind Symphony to Perform Fall Concert Nov. 14 The Whitworth Wind Symphony will perform its annual fall concert on Sunday, Nov.14, at 4 p.m., in Cowles Auditorium at Whitworth College. Admission is free; a free-will offering will be taken to benefit the wind symphony. For more information, please call (509) 777-3280. Led by Director and Professor of Music Richard Strauch, the wind symphony will perform pieces including Leonard Bernstein's Slava! and Michael Daugherty's Red Cape Tango, from his Metropolis Symphony, which is based on the myth of Superman. The symphony will also perform March op. 99, by Sergei Prokofiev, and Western One-Step, from Robert Russell Bennett's Suite of Old American Dances. In addition, the symphony will perform A Festive Tribute to a Friend, composed by former Whitworth music professor Michael Young in honor of Richard "Doc" Evans, a Whitworth music professor who retired in May 2004.
