Whitworth Hawaiian Club to Host Lu'au on April 2
What: The Whitworth Hawaiian Club, Na Pu'uwai o Hawai‘i (The Heart of Hawai‘i) will share Polynesian food and culture with the Spokane community during the club's 35th annual lu‘au, on Saturday, April 2. This year's theme is, "Na Mokupuni Polynesia," which means "The Polynesian Islands." The lu‘au will allow guests a glimpse into island cultures from Kaua'i, O'ahu, Maui and Hawai‘i to the Cook Islands, Samoa, Aotearoa/New Zealand, Fiji and Tahiti. The menu will include kalua pig (roasted pork), teriyaki beef, chicken long rice, lomi salmon, shoyu chicken, sticky rice, poi, macaroni salad, pineapple upside-down cake, sweet potatoes, and haupia, a coconut dessert.
The meal will be followed by games, live music and a fashion show. Hawaiian Club members will then present the main entertainment program, during which they will perform songs and dances from each island group. Specialty products from Hawai‘i will also be on sale at the club's country store.
When: Saturday, April 2, 2005. Doors open and dinner begins at 5 p.m.; entertainment begins at 7 p.m.

Tickets:$15 general admission; $13 Whitworth students with ID; $8 children 6-12 years old; children 5 and under are free.
To purchase tickets: Tickets can be purchased at the Information Desk in the Hixson Union Building at Whitworth College. The Information Desk is open Sunday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-11 p.m., and Friday-Saturday, 9 a.m.-10 p.m.
