Whitworth String Orchestra to Perform in May 5 Concert

The Whitworth String Orchestra and the Whitworth Student String Quartet will perform a spring concert on Thursday, May 5, at 7:30 p.m. in the Music Building Recital Hall at Whitworth College. Admission is free. For more information, please call (509) 777-3280.

The concert will include Concerto for Two Violins, by Bach, which will feature student soloists Beth Webster, '05, and Risa Wallette, '06; Symphony no. 25, by Mozart; and Debussy's The Girl with the Flaxen Hair. The Whitworth Student String Quartet will perform the first movement of String Quartet, also by Debussy.

"We are adding winds, specifically oboes, bassoons, and horns, for the final piece of the program, Mozart's Symphony no. 25," says Whitworth String Orchestra Conductor Roberta Bottelli. . "This work is featured prominently in the movie Amadeus."

Located in Spokane, Wash., Whitworth is a private liberal arts college affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA). The college enrolls 2,400 students in more than 50 undergraduate and graduate programs.
